Now that the whole country had so many new inventions to save time andmake things more relaxing, they needed things to help entertain them in this sparetime. Along withthese many good life saving inventions came some destructive ones. First camethe utilization and advancement of the airplane. In the early 1900 s the Wrightbrothers created a flying machine. It wasn t until several years later that the USgovernment took advantage of this and in 1921 turned these planes into muchmore dependable and deadly weapons as they were turned into bombers andfighter planes. This was not the only use of them however as they were used todeliver mail which led to the popular idea of air transport. This idea quicklycaught on to businesses and by the end of the decade hundreds of planes weredelivering all kinds of cargo across the country. In 1920 the creation of thesubmachine gun (Tommy Gun) made a very destructive atmosphere as they wereused in crime as well as War. Two other significant inventions in this field were helicopters and radar. As you have seen the 1920 s was a decade of large growth in technologyand in advancement. Thousands of inventions were created and patented duringthis ten year period. Most of them changed the lives of the people back then asmuch as they do now. Because of the inventions of this era we have automobiles, television, penicillin, insulin, and many other simple things that make our lives alot easier and more manageable.
